0 stars would be more appropriate, but that’s not an option. Being your beloved pets anywhere but here.
We brought our English Bulldog to Litchfield Veterinary Hospital for a consult because he was having difficulty urinating. Dr. Tursek performed what seemed like a thorough evaluation, including bloodwork, an ultrasound, and catheterization to help him pass urine. We were later emailed a diagnosis stating that neutering him was “the most effective long-term solution” and that the surgery “should resolve his difficulty urinating.”
What immediately concerned me was that they released our bulldog only about two hours after surgery. Anyone familiar with bulldogs knows they are a high-risk breed with respiratory concerns, and every other veterinary experience we’ve had involved overnight monitoring after anesthesia or surgery.
Instead of improving, our dog progressively got worse. About 2.5 weeks after surgery, we contacted the office multiple times by phone and email expressing serious concerns. Dr. Gumiran responded by email telling us his symptoms were “normal.” Two days later, I called again because I still felt something was very wrong. When I explained my concerns to the receptionist (Michelle or Melissa — it was hard to get her name), she responded with “Oh my God,” in a tone that made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. When I questioned the comment, she denied saying it altogether. Accountability and compassion go a long way, especially when someone is scared about their pet.
She told me the office manager would call me back after getting out of a meeting. That was over two weeks ago, and I never received a call.
Because our concerns were dismissed and never properly addressed, our dog ultimately went into Stage 2 kidney failure and spent 3 days in the ICU with nearly a $20,000 bill. Had this practice taken our concerns seriously and simply asked us to bring him back in for repeat labs or evaluation, they likely would have seen that his kidney values were worsening significantly and intervention could have happened sooner.
Our pets are family members, and trusting a veterinary office with their care should not feel this way. In our experience, this office was disorganized, unprofessional, dismissive, and lacking compassion. The facility itself felt dirty, communication was poor, and we were repeatedly met with rudeness when trying to advocate for our dog.
I would strongly encourage others to seek care elsewhere.
Litchfield Vet Hospital has been absolutely fantastic from the start. It's evident they really care about the well-being of your fur baby. They treated my cat, Daisy, as if she were a person and gave her medical care regardless of our ability to pay in full immediately. Sparing us those extra few days saved Daisy's life. I'm grateful we ended up at Litchfield Vet out of all of the potential places we looked at. We are now lifelong patients. Thank you ❤️
I can’t even begin to express how grateful-but even more so-blessed to have had the privilege to meet such an amazing veterinarian🥹
Dr. Trusock had to take over my baby’s care (Bully Boy🕊️), because Dr. Maurer wasn’t available (he was awesome as well💜). Unfortunately, she had to be the one to give me Bully’s prognosis. Her empathy was UNMATCHED-there was NOTHING ungenuine about her! It actually amazed me. She was gentle and compassionate and never once made me or my two boys feel rushed while we reacted to the terminal outcome.
She took her time explaining the process and answered every question with care.
During the euthanasia process she was equally patient, compassionate, and empathetic. There was nothing for me to worry about besides losing my baby💔 because she assured me that everything would be handled. Once again, she gave us all the time we needed to grieve and explained the process in great detail…
I just picked up his remains today, and as hard as it was, the young lady that handed it to me (unfortunately I didn’t get her name😒) surprisingly walked around her desk just to hand him to me while sincerely saying, “I am so sorry for your loss.” She did NOT have to come around, she could have just passed his remains over the desk. However, it is clear that this is an organization that TRULY cares about the pets and their owners! Such courtesy, grace and professionalism! Out of all the pain, thanks to them, I was able to feel a moment of peace and joy in knowing that Bully was in great hands the entire time, and evidently, so were my boys and I🙏🏼💜
Dr. Trusock-you will forever be my favorite person! I feel like I’m indebted to you. Some might say, “well that’s their job.” I disagree, because, not everyone goes above and beyond while exuding so much love and selflessness while doing their “job.”
Bully was so lucky & blessed to have had your care, and so were we!! 🥹

I don't think I have enough space to write about how fantastic LVH is. We set up our mastiff to have her spay and gastropexy. Dr. Trusock took the time to plainly explain how the procedure worked, what to expect, and also took some time to get to know our pups. We also had some specific requests about whether we could be there for when she's put under anesthesia and also be there when she woke up and Dr. Trusock was accommodating and understanding to our request. We felt that she wanted the best experience possible for our dog.
The front staff in the office was also truly exceptional, and they were always so kind when I had additional questions or concerns.
