Always feel our dogs are in the best of care whether a routine checkup or more extensive care such as surgery. From office staff to doctors they truly care about our pets.

Had to have them euthanize my cat today. He had a urinary tract blockage and they couldn't admit him today because they have no staff this weekend. Well I got news for them and I know they were being a little misleading. I used to clean floors and maintain them at another hospital and I know for a fact that they have patients that are already admitted there and they are not going to leave them unattended until Monday or Tuesday if we get the storm forecasted. They could not have admitted him because they allegedly had no staff this weekend. They euthanized him because he was 14 years old. Truth be told he wasn't showing signs of being a elder. In the previous 24 hours he was still playing. He still had the Zoomies.They assumed that because he was a elder that he wasn't active any longer and because of the blockage it was the end of the road. All I was asked is did he eat or drink in the 24 hours. No questions about if he was still active or anything else. He survived a blockage earlier in life and I felt he could have again. Let me add Phoenix has not been to a vet in 4 years since his last issue with with a blocked urinary tract. My girlfriend who has since been called to heaven has worked extensively with veterinary facilities for years was certified in giving medications and basic medical care for animals taught me what to look for in case of injury or illness in cats and more specifically this cat . Until the the past 48 hours led the life of a younger cat because these guys apparently thought because he was 14 that he was a elder which Until the last 48 hours he didn't get the memo because he played quite a bit, he had the typical zoomies and besides the occasional upset stomach ( which we all get at any age) he lived a normal life. I made the mistake of taking him to a vet to get relief from pain but because I didn't have insurance a decision was made to end his life. I will try and post a picture taken a day before he got sick from this. Tell me if he looks like a elder. If you see it he looks like he's happy and full of life. I'm 62. Does that mean if I don't see a doctor for 4 years and get sick am I gonna be euthanized? Where I am from I was taught to respect the elders including those in the animal world. Some states legally pets are not considered possessions but they are increasingly considered family members. Is this how a family member should be treated? If I was a person with a good income or even wealthy do you think that someone would go out of their way to heal him and restore his life to him? Would you expect that for you brother, sister mother or father? Family is family human or animal. Now I am not trying to make this Vet or anyone else look bad. It's not them alone. It's the entire industry, looking to make a quick buck instead of letting animals live their entire lives instead of taking the easy way. He was 14. The cat I originally had with him she lived until 19. And she also lived a good life but she wasn't euthanized she went from nature causes. This has nothing to do with ego and more to do with what is right. Most would argue it's just a animal. Animals should have the right to live a full life as humans do. How would you feel if a loved one was treated like this? I fight for my animals the same as I would for humans. We need more people to speak up and defend our family, our pets. They are not in our world we are in theirs and deserve the same love as the rest of our family the difference is that they trust us to protect them and in return they give unconditional love. By being nieve I unintentionally broke this trust.
